After four EPs and countless shows, Lord Buffalo will be releasing their first full length record this November. Self-titled, the record captures the band exploring the sonic space of the great plains--the play between the flooding river and the land, the intersection of folk art, experimental, and psychedelia. The record is expansive with long sections of instrumentation and drone that deviate from traditional songwriting patterns. At the same time, the band zooms in to deliver more structured southern gothic storytelling with the singles AxolotlIndian Summer, and Cimarron

The song Axolotl is a dark monorhythmic march, blooming into a flourish of guitar and violin. Indian Summer features the captivating vocals of Caitlin Kraus and is one of four Lord Buffalo songs featured in the documentary film Tower, winner of the 2016 SXSW Grand Jury Award. Cimarron pays homage to the muddy river that channels through the parched grasslands of Oklahoma. Saxifrage is a sprawling epic, a world of its own, that unfurls across ten minutes and three time signatures.

The record was recorded in Austin, TX with Erik Wofford (Black Angels, Golden Dawn Arkestra, Adam Torres) and and mastered by Leff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Spoon, Wilco). The record will be available on hand numbered vinyl LP, CD, and digital download November 17, 2017.
